Helping you play your role in protecting our environment

This portal was set up following many discussions with two groups of people who shared a common goal:

  • Organisations and individuals (Offset Seekers) considering offsetting as a way of achieving their ESG and environmental goals
  • Landowners and farmers (Offset Providers) who own Natural Capital assets and have the capacity to provide offsetting opportunities

Our goal

Make it easier for Offset Providers and Offset Seekers to work together and make a lasting difference to the communitities we live and work in, as well as the global environment.

Help:

  • Offset Providers create new revenue streams, whilst helping others to combat the effects of climate change.
  • Offset Seekers to make transparent climate action decisions, as well as prove that they are making a positive and measurable impact on the environment.

Combating climate change

Climate change has had a profound and irreversible global impact on:

  • Consumer attitudes, as well as the behaviour and expectations of the organisations they work for and buy from
  • Public and private companies' environmental polices
  • The guardians of Natural Capital (landowners and farmers) - they know they have an important role to play in combating climate change.

Since the 1990s, 'global warming' (the precursor to climate change), has been recognised as a serious global threat - resulting in an escalation in scientific, legislative and consumer focus on the issue, globally.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by 193 UN member states in 2015. It is a shared blueprint centred around 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

In Britain, the Government has proved a very effective 'green catalyst'. It has introduced legislation which has shaped the behaviour and demands of organisations (Offset Seekers), as well as the strategic plans of Offset Providers. For example:

  • 2020

2020 Agricultural Act encouraged the implementation of new approaches to farm payments and land management.

  • 2021

The Environment Act set new binding targets for air quality, water, biodiversity and waste reduction.

  • 2024

Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) - it will soon be mandatory for developers to take responsibility for avoiding the loss of habitat, as well as its recovery while developing land. They will also have to ensure it is in a better state for wildlife, than it was before development.

  • 2035

The sale of new petrol and diesel cars will end in the UK.

  • 2050

The target by which Greenhouse Gas emissions (GHGs) will be reduced by 100% from 1990 levels.

We therefore decided to create a place where Offset Providers and Offset Seekers could:

  • Find each other
  • Match Offset Seekers requirements with Offset Providers supply potential
  • Start a dialogue between these two groups, which would lead to an agreement and benefit the environment
  • Provide each party with immediate access to offset and agribusiness specialists who can advise them and help them achieve their goals.

We understand the requirements of both parties and have the Natural Capital expertise to provide them with the professional support to enable them to make informed decisions about an emerging, but fast maturing, market.
